Solihull Tree Planting Season Comes to a Close – 26,000 trees planted.

The Planting Our Future team were very busy between November 2021 to March 2022, planting approximately 26,000 trees in more than 30 different locations across the borough. We also held various community planting events, three of which were sponsored by local businesses.

We kicked off the tree planting season during National Tree Week (27 November – 5 December) and marked the occasion by launching a refreshed ‘Shirley Tree Trail’, developed in conjunction with Solihull Tree Wardens and Friends of Shirley Park. During the week, 100 trees were planted along highways throughout the borough. Theses trees will not only absorb and store carbon, but will help to reduce the ‘heat island’ effect by providing shade.

This has been a spectacular success for Solihull with planting taking place across the borough.
