From Monday 27 March, Solihull Council will be changing some of its recycling, rubbish and green waste collection rounds to make them more efficient and reduce carbon emissions.
The changes do not affect what is being collected or how often.
They mean that some residents will have a new collection day, a new collection cycle or both a new collection day and new collection cycle.
All households affected by these changes will receive a postcard with information about their new collections along with their next four collection dates.
Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, Cllr Ken Hawkins, said: “As part of our new environmental contract with Veolia and idverde, we have conducted a full review of our waste and recycling collections. By changing some of our routes we will be able to make the service much more efficient. We will also be able to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality – so this is good news all round.
“All households affected by the changes will receive a postcard over the next couple of weeks. If people haven’t received anything by the end of March – when the new collections start – then they aren’t affected by the changes. If anyone thinks they’ve missed it, they can double-check by looking at the online calendar.”
Veolia contract manager, Susan Cummine, added: “As you can imagine, reviewing the routes for over 90,000 properties has been no easy task, however it is essential to ensure we are collecting residents’ bins in the most efficient way. Working with Solihull Council, we are informing those that are affected. If you are in any doubt of whether or not you affected, please check online.”
