I fully support Saqaib’s call for the A&E department to be returned to Solihull Hospital. You only have to read about the major housing developments in my own ward (Blythe) to see the numers of housing we are expected to build in the borough. This on top of the thousands that resulted from the 2013 local plan.
All future large developments in the borough need to address the expected demand for primary care as well as the anticpated need for hospital services, especially a fully functioning Accident and Emergercy department. Pease support Saqib’s petiton.
The call from Saqib reads:
“This campaign aims to deliver A&E services within the Solihull borough to meet the needs of our growing community. I have long campaigned for improved health provisions within the Meriden constituency and the wider Solihull borough, delivering an Urgent Treatment Centre, Minor Injuries Unit, and new surgical suites for Solihull Hospital. Along with a Community Diagnostic Centre in Chelmsley Wood. We have some wonderful health facilities within our community but the next step in developing our local healthcare network is to provide A&E services locally.
At present residents of the Solihull borough must access A&E services in neighbouring areas, with the majority attending Heartlands Hospital in Bordesley Green. For many people the journey to Bordesley Green is impractical and arduous, making accessing A&E services difficult.
Our community deserves the best healthcare facilities available and restoring an A&E department to the Solihull borough is paramount to developing our access to emergency medical services. You can support this campaign by signing my petition for this initiative. Together we can secure an A&E department for the Solihull borough and make sure that everyone has convenient access to this vital emergency medical service.”
