Many residents may know the illegal encampment has left the park. Council officers had ensured eviction notices were served on the travellers to move off this afternoon. A timely visit to the park by Ken revealed a convoy of vehicles set up in readiness to leave.
Thankfully we have not suffered such scenes for a while and officers will now be looking at further security measures – again at a cost to us taxpayers. The park covers three wards and Cllrs Keith Green, Sam Gethen and Ken Hawkins have been onsite at various times to monitor the situation and talk to residents. We thank Solihull council officers and Solihull police for their swift action, and especially residents and park users for their patience and understanding in this matter.

You can see from the images how the site was left. We have witnessed worse than this before, but there has to be an expensive cleanup. I have omitted some photos I took from within some bushes; I can state that more fibre in someone’s diet is needed!
Council officers have organised a substantial clear up tomorrow by teams that are well versed in tackling the sort of mess left. I have left messages with some of our local volunteer litter pickers to NOT go and clear up the site in case of contamination.
