Local Government Boundary Review – Response to LGBCE Proposals – Solihull

A report before the councils Governance Committee on 31 July asks the committee members to:

‘…to consider the Council’s formal response to the consultation in relation to the final part of the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) Electoral Review of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.’

The report can be viewed via this link: https://democracy.solihull.gov.uk/documents/s120451/Boundary%20Review%20report%20to%20Governance%20Cttee%20July%202024.pdf

The issues has implications for the whole of the borough but I wish to concentrate on Blythe ward – the ward where I serve as Cllr and reside.

In brief, the changes recommended mean that Monkspath will move out of the current Blythe ward and merge with parts of the current St Alphege ward – to be named St Alphege and Monkspath ward. I have posted a screenshot of the proposed ward map below:

The councils formal response will be determined at our next Full Council meeting, on Tuesday 8 October. The LGBC will then decide upon its final recommendations to parliament to enact.

SOLIHULL MBC’S RESPONSE TO THE COMMISSION’S DRAFT RECOMMENDATIONS: these are detailed in the document linked below.

If the changes are agreed they will take place at the next local elections, in May 2026.
