NHS – Healthcare Section 106 funding

I have been seeking more funding for local NHS funding from planning developments and the good news is – its happening. I posted about this in July last year: https://cllrkenhawkins.co.uk/2024/07/08/solihull-infrastructure-delivery-plan/

From just three major planning applications in Blythe ward we find the sums sought from the NHS – Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System (NHS ICS) total in excess of £2.2m. With the breakdown for each application (so far) being:

Dog Kennel Lane (ZF/Richborough part of site): for 550 homes + £1,054,676 section 106 funding.

Tilehouse Lane (Richborough Estates); for 450 homes + £862,917 section 106 funding.

Tythe Barn Lane (Persimmon): for 90 homes + £345,167 section 106 funding.

These application are still be determined (and therefore may or may not be approved), however, these are considerable funds and help to explain to existing residents that local primary and secondary care needs are being addressed.

Next steps:

We can not bind the NHS ICS to state precisely where any new medical practice will be and the numbers of staff at each location. However, it is reasonable to expect a general response to show outline plans when these planning applications reach the determination stage (i.e., reach planning committee).

I am meeting mangers at a local practice soon to discuss any plans they may or may not have. Letters relating to each application can be found here:

I hope readers find this information useful. I will add further requests when they are made.
