Road safety measures on Church Hill Road

I wish to update you regarding action I promised following the nasty collisions that took place last year. At my cabinet decision session on Tuesday evening I agreed officers’ recommendations for road safety measures on Church Hill Road.

It was recommended that both pedestrian crossings on the road should be raised, creating a tabletop to slow vehicles down. This type of measure is proven to act to reduce traffic speeds. I am pleased our officers were able to attract funding for these measures through the combined authorities Integrated Settlement.

I have asked our highway officers that these measures be implemented as soon as possible but there has to be a statutory consultation period to allow this.

At my decision session I asked officers as to whether other measures might be forthcoming and there was a commitment that these measures will be reviewed once implemented.

The agenda and webcast for the meeting can be found on the council website via this link: https://democracy.solihull.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=682&MId=10631
