Albert Price – a Monkspath resident and a hero.

I see Albert and his wife regularly when walking near Elmbridge Drive and Shelly Crescent.

What I didn’t know was Albert took part in a tragic (and secret) Operation Smash, in practice for D Day. He was guiding one of several tanks ashore in Studland Bay and was one of a few that survived the tragedy. These short videos from BBC 4’s Beach Live show some of the story.

See the link to the BBC webpage for more details. https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2018/29/beach-live-weds

You can still watch the programme on Catch Up, it was shown Wednesday just gone.

We owe so much to people like Albert.
