WILDLIFE WAYS – wildlfower turf and seeding at most routes:
As part of the Wildlife Ways programme, our contractors, idverde, will be preparing for wildflower turf laying in the next few weeks. There will be no access restrictions whilst these works are happening.
Over 30,000 square metres of wildflower turf is scheduled to be laid across the borough along road verges and on roundabouts from the end of February. From the start of February we will be preparing these areas in readiness for the new turf. The verges and roundabouts may look muddy to start with but this is necessary in order for the new turf to establish in readiness for a display of colour this spring and summer.
Our landscape contractor will also be treating some areas for wildflower seeding from late February, these areas are certain to develop and establish well. In addition a field maple tree will be planted on Hampton Lane.
Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, this £16.8 million project will open up and improve existing routes, allowing wildlife to flourish and help people to walk and cycle across the borough.
