At next week’s Stronger Communities Scrutiny and Neighbourhood Services Scrutiny Board there will be a presentation regarding the flooding which took place in May this year. The presentation will form part of the interim report of the Section 19 Inquiry (of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010). Agenda item 5 relates to:
To receive the interim findings of the s.19 investigation (The Flood and Water Management Act 2010) for the May 2018 storm and flooding incidents.
The agenda can be read via this link: http://eservices.solihull.gov.uk/mgInternet/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=531&MId=6944
I do not have the full details yet but it is proposed there will be a presentation to members. No reports are published on-line yet but when I do have access to them I shall post them on this forum.
I do understand that the Environment Agency is still to complete some of its investigations, and the same applies to neighbouring Birmingham’s own Section 19 Inquiry. Officers from the council and the Environment Agency are undertaking visits to localities where flooding took place and one took place last week in Cheswick Green.
Members of the public can attend the Civic Suite to hear the presentation but although this scrutiny boards meeting are not usually webcast it is proposed that the agenda item covering the flooding investigation will be. I have posted the link to the webpage you will need to follow the meeting online here: https://solihull.public-i.tv/core/portal/home
The meeting will begin at 6pm.
I will expect the Inquiry to report on:
- The precise causes and pathways of the flooding (both external and internal to properties),
- Key solutions,
- Identify the Risk Management Authorities,
- The number of proposed actions to be completed by the Risk Management Authorities,
- The number of actions completed to date.
